Product Detail:

Our area was recently devastated by one of the worst storms in history. Many communities are basically destroyed.  New Orleans was spared some of the worst, but is hardly unscathed.  Our nursing students are spread throughout the affected communities.

We know many Charity alumni suffered their own losses, but the nursing students live on much narrower margins at the best of times. We reached out to offer emergency assistance to students who were impacted by the storm, and have received over 200 applications for help.

Roofs were damaged or ripped completely off, large trees crushed houses, homes were flooded. One student lived in an apartment building that burned to the ground and is now homeless.  Students are caring for elderly relatives who were displaced from homes and nursing homes. Those that evacuated incurred expenses for gas and hotels. Many businesses closed - temporarily or indefinitely - after the storm, throwing students out of work. Some students are still living without electricity weeks after the storm. Water from above and below damaged furniture, computers, uniforms and textbooks.  The stories are overwhelming!

It is impossible for us to make anyone whole, but we want to help these students in at least a small way. We are asking those alumni who are able to make extra donations to assist these students.  Even a $100 grant would mean a lot to each one of these students who are struggling to stay in school after this terrible storm upended their lives.
